CHIC SHOULD NEVER QUIT

Rating: 4 of 5

Chic with Nile Rodgers

Place: Skeppsholmen, Stockholm. Audience: Around 6000. Lenght: 1H 30M. Best: "Everybody Dance", "We Are Family", "I Want Your Love". Worst: Actually, nothing.

The world's teeming with bands who should quit, who should be silent and not do a comeback. The disco and funk group Chic does not belong to that category.

With guitarist, songwriter and superproducer Nile Rodgers as leader, Omar Hakim on drums and the two beautiful singers Sylver Logan Sharp and Jessica Wagner as a sort of core, Chic lines up one it-is-impossible-to-stand-still-song after another.

It must be rhythms from heaven. Or hell. I don't know.

But you'll get it if you read the beginning of the tracklist: "Le Freak", "I Want Your Love", "Everybody Dance" and then a medley with among others "I'm Coming Out" and "Upside Down".

I will not testify to it, but I think there's never been as much ferocious, persistant and long time dancing on Skeppsholmen (island) as yesterday night. (translated by pocat)
