The song, which was written, arranged and produced by Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards with and for the CHIC Organization Ltd., was the second single release from 'Love Somebody Today', the Sledge sisters follow-up album to their mega hit album 'We Are Family' from the previous year. Just as the first released single 'Got To Love Somebody' had, 'Reach Your Peak' didn't quite measure up, saleswise, to the hit singles of 1979. (Billboard: Black #21 Disco/Clubplay #34).
